About Dr Vandita Dubey

Dr. Vandita Dubey is a US trained clinical psychologist based in the Kumaon Himalayas, India. She has been working with children, teenagers, individual adults and couples for many years. Dr Dubey began her journey in the field of mental health when she joined the Medical and Psychiatric Social Work program at TISS, Mumbai, in 1995. After completing the program she worked with NGOs in Delhi and Mumbai in the area of child sexual abuse awareness, prevention and treatment but realised that she did not feel fully equipped to work with the victims or survivors of such traumatic experiences. Hence, she enrolled in a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) program at Ilinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago in 2001. This was an intense program of theoretical and practical training, which she completed in March 2006, and obtained a Psychologist License from the State of Indiana a year later. In 2006, she joined a psychotherapy practice in Chicago but in 2007 decided to move back to India. From 2008 to early 2015 she worked at her private practice in Gurgaon, India, where she worked with children, adults and couples. She supervised Masters and Doctoral level mental health professionals and consulted with Gurgaon schools and corporates.

Since April 2015, Dr Dubey has been providing individual psychotherapy/counselling via the Internet/Phone from her base in the Kumaon Himalayas. Her clients include senior corporate executives and business professionals - individuals and couples - who are concerned about their privacy, travel frequently and/or are unable to find the time in their busy lives to pursue psychotherapy with a trained professional. She also provides free mental health services to the local community. Dr. Dubey has now reintroduced fully private, psychotherapy retreats for individuals and couples as well as self growth workshops in the Himalayas.
